Use the resources at each station to help you gain a deeper understanding of how WWII impacted and changed millions of lives around the globe.

Each tab has more resources than you will have time to review, please choose a few that interest you and focus on answering the questions for each station.

Station One- The Holocaust

Choose a Holocaust Identification Card off the table and read the booklet.  When you are done, answer the following questions:

  1. Explain the quote on the front of the card- “For the dead and the living we must bear witness”.  What do you think this statement means?


 

  1. What was life like for your Holocaust victim in the years 1933-1939?  


 

  1. What happened to them as a result of the Holocaust?


 

Please return your Identification Card to the table when you are finished

 

Review the maps placed around this station to complete the following question:

  1. What countries have the most concentration camps?  Why do you think this is the case?


 

  1. Scan the QR code on your phone or an iPad and read the information in the chart. How many Jews were killed by the Nazis? What other groups were targeted?


 

  1. After viewing all the photos spread out on the table, compare.  What do the photos have in common? What questions do these photos raise in your mind?



 

Station Two- Japanese Internment

 

  1. What were internment camps?


 

  1. Why were Japanese Americans sent to these camps?


 

  1. What was life like for Japanese Americans who lived in the internment camps?




 

Station Three- Aftermath of the Atomic Bomb

 

Make sure to read an interview with a survivor of the Atomic Bomb while at this station.

  1. Explain your thoughts on how the Japanese must have felt immediately after the Atomic Bomb was dropped on them.



 

  1. What do you think were some of the long term impacts of dropping the Atomic Bombs in Japan? Consider the Japanese people, the environment, health consequences, and the global arms race.



 

Station Four:  Minorities during WWII

Navajo Code Talkers

  1. Why did the US military want to use Navajo Indians during WWII?


 

  1. What role did code talkers play in the war in the Pacific?



 

Tuskegee Airmen

  • List three facts about the Tuskegee Airmen?
