Station Activity: Visit 3 stations to learn about geography, ask questions, and view images of people living in each country.

 

What do you wonder about life in these countries? 

Think specifically about:

  • Citizens, Society & State

  • Political & Economic Change

  • Type of Government & Leaders

  • Public Policy - current issues & foreign relationships

  • Power, Sovereignty, Authority

    • Four factors of the state in defining its role in the world/with neighbors

Station 1

Station 1: World Geography

Draw and color the three countries on an outline map of the world.  Identify the capital city, and find out the population.

Station 3

Station 3: Images and photographs of Russia, Iran, Great Britain

Use the ImageQuest database from Britannica.  

  • Search for photos of each country that relate to the government, laws, people, population, or geography.   

Choose two images to share with the class on a Padlet wall (choose the link for your class period below).  

  1. ​​Download the images from ImageQuest and upload in Padlet.
  2. On the padlet wall, add your first name, the name of the country, and write a few sentences about why you chose that photo, and the connection to government or society.  
  3. Copy and Paste the citation from ImageQuest!

Station 2

Station 2: Explore and Ask Questions

What do you wonder about life in these countries?  Write your responses in the form of a question.  Think specifically about the freedom of citizens, government, economics, current issues, and power/rights.

Use the print resources and library database ABC-CLIO: World Geography

  • Search the name of the country,  then click the tab "Topic Center."    
  • Use the menu on the left to explore Geography, History, Society, Government.
  • Be sure to click Facts & Figures.

Record notes and generate questions as you read, glance at pictures, examine tables of content, and captions.
